Top-class wind sounds

When the first five wind players from the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic came together for a joint festival performance in 1983, this marked the birth of the Vienna-Berlin ensemble. Since then, the ensemble has been internationally recognized as an outstanding wind quintet and performs in the most prestigious concert halls and at renowned festivals. A particular focus of the repertoire of the musicians, who made their Konzerthaus debut in 1985, is on the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. On their return to the Mozart Hall, the Ensemble Wien-Berlin will perform Pavel Haas' Wind Quintet op. 10 from 1929 as well as the first wind quintet by Hungarian composer Endre Szervánszky from 1953. The work will be performed for the first time at the Wiener Konzerthaus and is characterized by instrumental sophistication and intensity.
