7 Concerts in the Mozart Hall

KFW+: Optional extension to include all second events

Breaking.point

1922 – Helicopter and sound film invented, Soviet Union founded; 1923 – Japan, China and Iran hit by devastating earthquakes, first radio stations went on the air. But above all: the two composers Xenakis and Ligeti were born around the year 22/23 100 years ago. With a coda concert on Iannis Xenakis (*1922) and a prelude concert on György Ligeti (*1923), Klangforum Wien is knocking two colossal anniversary pegs into our present sense of time, which, in view of the current challenges, is in danger of drifting into a history-less disorientation. Back then, in the birth years of Xenakis and Ligeti, many things were broken and became the starting point for a new beginning. The new cycle of Klangforum Wien takes this into account: questioning the future and being aware of the history of the new are the defining contents.

Note

Subscribers who wish to attend both events (6.00 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.) on all evenings and thus hear the programme twice will receive the second events of the evenings at a subscription price reduced by 50%. To do so, tick KFW+ in the order process (under »Additional concerts«). Please note that thereafter, for technical reasons, only the first of the six events of the KFW+ extension (25 October 2022 / Atem) will be listed in the order process.

2 cycle options:
Cycle KFWA: first date in each case at 6.00 pm
Cycle KFWB: second event at 8.30 p.m. each time
