Expedition Mozart:
Kit Armstrong and ensemble
»We thought about the audience first. Since we are experienced chamber musicians, we also want to play chamber music, and that was a kind of guideline in each of these programmes«, summarised pianist Kit Armstrong in an interview for the monthly programme. »Expedition Mozart« is the name of the project consisting of three concerts that Kit Armstrong has conceived. Together with musician friends, including violinist Noah Bendix-Balgley and flautist Jasmine Choi as well as members of the Minetti Quartet, the Simply Quartet and the Quatuor Hermès, he dedicates himself to selected piano concertos (such as the popular »Jeunehomme« concerto), the Sinfonia concertante, the Kleine Nachtmusik and violin sonatas by the Salzburg master. A journey into the classical cosmos over two days with a night concert as the finale: not with the usual large orchestral sound, but with a chamber music sound, because, according to Kit Armstrong: »When you hear Mozart in a string quartet line-up, with a really good string quartet, you hear a different world from the very first note.«
