We are living in a very diverse society. This fact can and should be reflected in our concert audiences, allowing everyone a barrier-free participation in cultural activities. Thus, the Wiener Konzerthaus has launched a new inclusive concert series in the 2019/20 season, especially designed for people with and without disabilities. The performances are aimed at our regular audiences and members of the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft, but also, in particular, at people with physical and/or intellectual restrictions and their families, friends and carers. “klangberührt” pursues the vision of a connective, respectful and magical concert series, in which immediate access to the senses and the experience of music are fostered – regardless of any kind of impairment. The concerts, featuring chamber-music formations, are staged with the help of accompanying moderation, purposeful interaction with the audience, using light and colour – thus involving all the senses, in order to afford the participants a holistic and all-embracing access to the listening experience.
