Masterpieces of the Viennese Classic

It has to be the cello! Gautier Capuçon already knew it at the age of four. Why, even as a child, was he drawn to this large and unwieldy instrument of all things? »There is something very grounded about the cello, in the truest sense of the word, after all, it stands with its spine on the ground,« says Capuçon, »it comes closest to the human body, you literally embrace it.« The cello has long since become an integral part of his life, and he himself has become one of the world's leading cellists. Joseph Haydn's cello concertos are a continuum of his outstanding career: Capuçon's first solo recording was dedicated to the concert art of the Viennese classicist. Classical music from A to Z determines the program and is in the best hands with the Vienna – Berlin Chamber Orchestra: The musicians bring together the qualities of no less than the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonic Orchestras.
