»Listen, what's coming in from outside!«
Immediately following their nine-day tour of Japan, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and Rainer Küchl will give a »Welcome-Back-Matinee« at the Vienna Konzerthaus. The legendary concertmaster of the Vienna Philharmonic - very well connected in the land of the rising sun - was last seen here in 2008 in the Great Hall with »his« orchestra and as soloist in Schumann's Violin Concerto under Christian Thielemann. Now he himself conducts the first of two »Rossini Masquerades« by Schubert, the first of only two piano concertos by Mozart in a minor key with Sebastian Knauer as soloist, and Beethoven's energetic »Apotheosis of the Dance« in the Mozart Hall; a Kneipp cure of emotions, then, into which the Vienna Chamber Orchestra plunges here under the direction of a philharmonic authority.
