Viennese musical friendships

What do Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Joseph Haydn have in common with Alban Berg and Anton Webern? Both Mozart and Haydn, as well as Berg and Webern, were on friendly terms, exchanged ideas about their works and, with their work from Vienna, had a lasting influence on the further course of international music history - the one as the leading composers of Viennese Classicism, the other as important representatives of the Viennese School. Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, one of the great artistic personalities of his generation and this season's portrait artist of the Wiener Konzerthaus, and the Wiener KammerOrchester - who are also linked by their Viennese roots - juxtapose these two pairs of composers in this concert, featuring symphonies by Mozart and Haydn and works for string orchestra by Berg and Webern.
