»Face the Bass!«

Where does it come from? How does it work? What is important to consider, and what freedoms does it grant to performers? The foundation for the music of an entire age named after it, spanning some 150 years: the basso continuo. Recorder virtuoso Dorothee Oberlinger and her Ensemble 1700 offer the audience a unique opportunity to experience the technique and playing techniques of the basso continuo up close. Watch professionals at work and learn about the tricks of their daily trade. The linchpin will be a sonatina by Georg Philipp Telemann, whose original bass part was long considered lost and consequently underwent all kinds of reconstructions before suddenly reappearing at the end of the 20th century. Let yourself be surprised!
