Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

Through classical, romantic and modern music

As part of the »Matinees of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra«, Alexander Soddy, born in Oxford in 1982, invites you on a symphonic journey through classical, romantic and modern music. Alexander Soddy was General Music Director of the Nationaltheater Mannheim from 2016/17 until the 2021/22 season. He has also conducted the Royal Swedish Orchestra, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra, among others. Under his direction, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra will perform Franck's rarity »Der wilde Jäger«, inspired by a ballad by Gottfried August Bürger, and Schönberg's »Verklärte Nacht«, the composition of which was also inspired by a poem. A special highlight of the matinee will be Rudolf Buchbinder's interpretation of Beethoven's First Piano Concerto in C major op. 15.
