Awakening

The sexual awakening in Stefan George's »Hanging Gardens« drove Arnold Schoenberg to leave the terrain of spent dissonance for free atonality. Luigi Nono and Beat Furrer can be understood and heard in this episode as architects of the constant breaking open. Hannah Kendall, on the other hand, lets European art music fragments echo on a Creole plantation and thus prepares the field of her now emerging »Afrofuturist Opera«.
