Two pianos, but one voice
In their hands, both pianos melt into a single melodious instrument, as one press review wrote about the finely tuned playing of Dutch brothers Arthur and Lucas Jussen. The two brothers, who come from a musical family, have been performing as a duo since childhood - both four-handed and on two pianos. For their guest appearance at the Wiener Konzerthaus, they have chosen Poulenc's 1932 Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra. Poulenc himself wrote that the work was a homage to Mozart, calling the second movement a »poetic play on Mozart's portrait«. The concert will be conducted by Marie Jacquot, who has been Principal Guest Conductor of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra since this season.
