»Talking about Vienna«
EsRAP and Gasmac Gilmore: it was love at first sight. What began as a »non-committal taster course between Tschuschen rap and Balkan polka« (according to EsRAP) soon turned out to be fertile ground for anthems like »Freunde dabei«.
EsRAP, the siblings Esra and Enes Özmen, who grew up in the working-class district of Ottakring in Vienna, combine hip-hop beats and arabesque and use rap as a medium of musical resistance. In their German-Turkish lyrics, they deal with questions of identity, the feeling of being foreign in their own country and also with the topic of being a woman in the male-dominated hip-hop scene. With Gasmac Gilmore, a musical expansion in the direction of »Balkan Sounds with Spaghetti Western Touch« followed. Clear the stage for a good portion of rap and Balkan rock!
