Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

Passion, precision, expressivity

An early and a late quartet by Ludwig van Beethoven will frame the Austrian premiere of a new quartet by the successful British composer Julian Anderson when the Belcea Quartet, also based in Great Britain, makes its first guest appearance at the Wiener Konzerthaus this season. With this program, the internationally renowned ensemble, praised for the emotionality, precision and expressiveness of its interpretations, places its core competencies at the center of this evening: it already recorded Beethoven's quartets on multiple award-winning sound and image carriers more than a decade ago. And it has always devoted itself with no less passion to expanding the string quartet literature with substantial new contributions.
