Terribly beautiful
A trained cellist who has won an Emmy, Grammy, Golden Globe, and Oscar? Born in Reykjavík in 1982, Hildur Guðnadóttir began studying classical cello and composition in her hometown and at the Berlin University of the Arts. However, she soon became interested in experimental sounds beyond the classical repertoire. She elicits a wide range of sounds from her instrument, from intimate simplicity to powerful soundscapes. With her minimalist and atmospheric sound, she has established herself at the forefront of experimental pop and contemporary music. In addition to her acclaimed solo albums »Mount A«, »Without Sinking«, »Leyfðu Ljósinu«, and »Saman«, which range between ambient and drone metal, she has composed for theater, dance, and film. She owes the highest awards in the film industry to her evocative soundtracks for »Chernobyl« and »Joker«. Now the singer, cellist, and composer is performing with her ensemble for the first time at the Vienna Konzerthaus!
