»Bach Cantatas«: L'Orfeo Baroque Orchestra

To this day, Bach's legacy, the »musicalised« gospel in the form of almost three surviving cantata volumes and several passions, continues to inspire unreserved admiration: Michi Gaigg's L'Orfeo Barockorchester, which has been one of the most distinctive voices in historical performance practice for more than 25 years, interprets four of Bach's best-known cantatas.

Budapest Festival Orchestra · Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider

Iván Fischer and his Budapest Festival Orchestra have presented the four symphonies and the four instrumental concertos by Johannes Brahms in a total of four concerts. Now the 3rd Symphony and the Violin Concerto are on the program at the beginning of the new season. The soloist in the latter work, which Brahms wrote for his friend Joseph Joachim, then from western Hungary, is Nikolaj Szeps-Znaider, who has been one of the top international violinists since his competition success at the Concours Reine Elisabeth in 1997.

Klavierabend Krystian Zimerman

Krystian Zimerman is one of the world's great pianists. He recorded Beethoven's piano concertos with Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra; they remain a reference recording to this day. His Viennese audience can look forward to a colorful tour through the romantic salons – with Nocturnes and the B minor Sonata by Frédéric Chopin –, through Debussy's impressionistic »Estampes« and Szymanowski's »Variations on a Polish Folk Theme« op. 10.

His songs are uplifting, saddening to death and at the same time incredibly sublime and proud, because they know life in all its facets and do not embellish. Jacques Brel or Serge Gainsbourg come...
