Cycle Resonances 2024: »The planets«

Pythagoras of Samos in the 6th century BC already assumed that the movements of the planets created a harmony of the spheres that was inaudible to humans. The »Resonanzen« 2024 now envelop the main actors of our solar system in a unique atmosphere of music and history, bringing even the most inhospitable planet to sonorous life. On eight evenings, you will experience the wonderful harmonies of higher spheres thanks to renowned ensembles and soloists of historical performance practice.

The New Year's Eve concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus promise something extraordinary. The choice is yours: Beethoven's Ninth with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra? Or a musical journey to the Strauss family with the Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna? Or would you like to experience a tribute to Franz Schubert with the Musicbanda Franui and the Strottern? The »Abpfiff 2023« (»Final Whistle 2023«) with whistler Nikolaus Habjan will be humorous and virtuosic. Karl Markovics and Katharina Stemberger give an ovation to the duo Gerhard Bronner and Georg Kreisler. And for all those in the mood for an exuberant New Year's Eve celebration, the Janoska Ensemble's gala is highly recommended.

The premiere of his oratorio »Elijah« was a triumph for Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy: there was talk of never-ending applause in the press at the time. Now, when Raphaël Pichon conducts the choir and orchestra of his original sound ensemble Pygmalion through Mendelssohn's effective score, one can be sure of the overwhelming effect of this timeless work.
