The fascination of the human voice, in all of its many difference facets, can be heard once again this season in the series »Great Voices«: from the angelic-voiced soprano of Julia Lezhneva and the shining tenors of Rolando Villazón and Juan Diego Flórez to the dark and powerful bass of Ildar Abdrazakov, not to mention virile singers such as Erwin Schrott or the captivating voices of Golda Schultz and Olga Peretyatko. The best-known stars rub shoulders here with up-and-coming young rising stars. At the start of the season, Juan Diego Flórez will show off the extraordinary beauty of his voice in an evening of arias by Mozart, Rossini, Händel and Gluck. Then follows joint performances by star tenor Rolando Villazón and the black velvet bass of Ildar Abdrazakov. Let yourself be whisked away into the glittering baroque period by the young soprano Julia Lezhneva, while Golda Schultz and audience heartthrob Erwin Schrott present a Belcanto programme from French and Italian opera. Rounding off the season is the »Russian nightingale« Olga Peretyatko with a programme of arias and songs from her home country. The repertoire stretches from baroque and Italian and French opera to Russian arias and songs from the 19th and 20th centuries. If you like technically perfect coloratura, intimate or expressive sounds, brilliant voices and top-class entertainment, you can’t go wrong here. An absolute must for lovers of opera!
