A great voice and a guitar to accompany it – that's all it takes to embark on a musical journey around the world. This season, the voice in the cycle »World« is clearly female, whether she sings, hums, breathes, belts or tells stories. In addition to re-encounters with the Portuguese fadista Cristina Branco and the Malian bard Fatoumata Diawara, you will make the acquaintance of female singers who are guests at the Wiener Konzerthaus for the first time: with the powerful-voiced Lila Downs, who puts a modern spin on Mexican folk songs, whether Mixtec, Mayan, Zapotec or Nahuatl; with Noa, who comes from Israel and has contributed songs to cinema films such as »La vita è bellal«; with the versatile Spanish singer Sílvia Pérez Cruz. Last but not least, Tomatito, a virtuoso flamenco guitarist, and his band will create a fiery atmosphere.
