From Haydn and Mozart to contemporary music, from the unaccompanied violin to the small string orchestra, from very young talents to prominent all-star ensembles, the spectrum of what the »Chamber Music« cycle has to offer ranges. Portrait artist Emmanuel Tjeknavorian can be experienced in a trio with Daniel Müller-Schott and Anna Vinnitskaya, while Martin Fröst, Antoine Tamestit and Shai Wosner form a trio of a completely different colour. In general, piano chamber music has a large share in the programme: Les Vents Français, all top soloists in their respective fields, present wind chamber music with piano of predominantly French provenance, while audience favourite Elisabeth Leonskaja interprets the first two piano quartets by Brahms with members of the Staatskapelle Berlin. Speaking of Brahms, Isabel Charisius, last violist of the legendary Alban Berg Quartett, joins the Castalian Quartet for a performance of his second string quintet, and one of Brahms' sextets can be experienced with the West-Eastern Divan Ensemble.
