Company of Music
As usual, the Company of Music presents the finest vocal music from different epochs and styles. The evening begins with Viennese Romanticism: works by Franz Schubert meet Gustav Mahler's Rückert Lieder in an arrangement by Viennese composer Lukas Haselböck, who is himself part of the ensemble. Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber's monumental »Missa Bruxellensis«, a work composed around 1700 in the style of Venetian polychoral music, will be performed by the Company of Music with the original sound ensemble Concerto Stella Matutina. We are also looking forward to a contribution to the portrait of our honorary member György Ligeti: in addition to classics such as »Lux aeterna« and the Hölderlin Fantasies, the programme includes some early compositions from Ligeti's estate that are only now gradually being published. Guest in the cycle is the versatile US-American ensemble Chanticleer.
