Established and up-and-coming conductors make their mark on the Vienna Symphony Orchestra's matinees: Marc Minkowski and Pablo Heras-Casado devote themselves to French-Spanish repertoire, while Frankfurt's designated General Music Director Thomas Guggeis makes his debut with Mendelssohn's »Scottish«. Fabio Luisi and Bertrand de Billy, former principal conductors of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra and the Vienna RSO, respectively, return to the Vienna Konzerthaus with great symphonies by the late Austrian Romantics Schmidt and Korngold. The line-up of soloists is similarly diverse, with Gabriela Montero and Alexandre Kantorow on piano, Frank Peter Zimmermann and Vilde Frang on violin, and the fabulous mezzo-soprano Gaëlle Arquez..
