Virtuosos in their respective fields shape this cycle – as its name suggests. To kick things off, we present the shooting star Jan Lisiecki in concert with the Wiener Symphoniker and Omer Meir Wellber. Sparks fly when Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Fazıl Say perform as a duo. Daniil Trifonov and his mentor and teacher Sergei Babayan will devote themselves entirely to the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff, who himself, as a master of his instrument, was particularly adept at composing virtuoso music. Robert Schumann was also a virtuoso and composer in one. His Piano Concerto will be performed by Kirill Gerstein and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra under its young principal conductor Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla. Finally, we look forward to the great violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter and her partners Maximilian Hornung and Lambert Orkis. ´
