Presenting the spectrum of percussion music in five concerts is like squaring the circle: the miracle can be experienced in »Percussive Planet«. Rich in complexity is the opening concert with »Great Talent« Vivi Vasssileva, who makes Friedrich Cerha's Percussion Concerto her own. As a worthy successor to Martin Grubinger in this cycle, she is responsible not only for the beginning but also the conclusion of the cycle, which she performs with the Covent Garden Soloists and guitarist Lucas Campara Diniz. The Ensemble Kodo will travel from Japan: It offers insights into a centuries-old Far Eastern percussion art with a contemporary polish. Inspired by Afro-Caribbean music is the latest project »Iroko« by jazz icon Avishai Cohen and his all-star band. The facets of the possible are expanded by portrait artist and master of hand pans Manu Delago in his new program, in which he lets electronics meet acoustic instruments.
