Elegance and grace, power and virtuosity: what Franz Liszt and Frédéric Chopin once offered on the piano is now being continued by their successors. Kirill Gerstein has a passion for the German and French piano literature: in his recital he takes a look at the romantic salons, among other things. The program of Alexandre Tharaud, winner of several ECHO Classics prizes, is entirely »à la française« and spans the 20th century. Rafał Blechacz and Alexei Volodin lead a round dance of sound through several centuries - both also bring music from their home countries. This unites them with the only 15-year-old Alexandra Dovgan, who interprets Rachmaninoff's Corelli Variations. A romantic tableau is drawn by cycle debutant Mao Fujita, who won the silver medal at the 2019 International Tchaikovsky Competition at the age of only 21.
