Franz Welser-Möst
3 Konzerte im Großen Saal
Saalplan mit 8 Kategorien (Großer Saal)
He is the most successful Austrian conductor since Herbert von Karajan and is well on his way to equaling George Szell's record as the longest-serving principal conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra: Since 2002, Franz Welser-Möst has been Music Director of this American orchestra, which ranks among the best in the world. And it is with this orchestra that he opens his own cycle, which also takes him to the podium of two top European orchestras, namely the Vienna Philharmonic and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. The three concerts will feature the late Romantic composers Mahler and Strauss, complemented by Beethoven's 5th Piano Concerto, the solo part of which is in the capable hands of Leif Ove Andsnes. Soloist in the opening concert will be Simon Keenlyside with a selection of »Wunderhorn« and early Mahler songs. Franz Welser-Möst will also conduct three interpretation workshops, the dates of which will be announced to subscribers at a later date.
