Eight guest orchestras from three continents and the Vienna Philharmonic do this cycle justice. The latter, who traditionally only have guest conductors, will be playing under the baton of the Canadian Yannick Nézet-Séguin this time; all foreign orchestras are travelling with their prominent chief conductors such as Iván Fischer, Riccardo Chailly, Sir Antonio Pappano and Jakub Hrůša. There is also an international star line-up of soloists. For example, the celebrated Swedish soprano Nina Stemme will perform Mahler's ÌKindertotenlieder«, while violinists Anne-Sophie Mutter, Julia Fischer and Lisa Batiashvili will shine in concertos by Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky and Szymanowski. Gautier Capuçon shines with the famous cello concerto by Dvořák, while Rudolf Buchbinder, Sir András Schiff, Yefim Bronfman and Daniil Trifonov provide great piano sound.
