The current edition of the »Originalklang« cycle features two premieres at the Wiener Konzerthaus: a pompous serenata by the Habsburg court composer Francesco Bartolomeo Conti and Handel's equally opulent pasticcio oratorio »Deborah«. La fonte musica - celebrated in 2022 for their interpretation of Monteverdi's Vespers - accompanies Mauro Borgioni as Orfeo in the underworld, and the Mahler Academy Orchestra Originalklang-Project presents Rachmaninoff's 3rd Piano Concerto - performed by Leif Ove Andsnes on a grand piano from 1910 - and Mahler's Fifth, popular late Romanticism in historical performance practice. In between are touching and uplifting sound experiences in the more intimate setting of the Mozart Hall: a beautiful-sounding »Christmas History« a cappella with the Huelgas Ensemble, Schubert's string quintet with a star line-up on original instruments, a Venetian round dance with the Basel Chamber Orchestra and a selection of Biber's highly virtuoso »Rosary« sonatas as a manege for baroque violinist Sophie Gent.
