Festkonzerte der Wiener Symphoniker
4 Konzerte im Großen Saal
Saalplan mit 8 Kategorien (Großer Saal)
The Wiener Symphoniker's festive concerts are characterised by great works: they open their season at the Wiener Konzerthaus under the direction of their chief conductor Petr Popelka with Bartók's exuberant and lively Concerto for Orchestra; the soloist in Tchaikovsky's epic First Piano Concerto with its grandiose introduction is the fabulous Anna Vinnitskaya. Under the direction of Philippe Jordan, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra then perform Mahler's Eighth - with its two mixed choirs, children's choir, eight soloists and a huge orchestra, it is something of an exaggeration of Beethoven's Ninth, the ideal type of festive music. Bach's corresponding oratorio is dedicated to the approaching Christmas, while Lorenzo Viotti welcomes the approaching summer with Sol Gabetta as soloist and Rimsky-Korsakov's enchanting fairytale suite "Scheherazade".
