Hagen Quartett
4 Konzerte im Mozart-Saal
Saalplan mit 6 und 4 Kategorien (Mozart-Saal)
Both composition and interpretation in this cycle are exemplary: the Hagen Quartet has been one of the pillars of chamber music at the Wiener Konzerthaus for over forty years; in 2012 it was made an honorary member of the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft. This time, its expertise is focused on the central star of the string quartet literature, Joseph Haydn. The Hagen Quartet explores his oeuvre from the 1780s and 1790s and later, almost symphonic interpretations of the genre by the Romantics Robert Schumann and Johannes Brahms or the confessional »Intimate Letters« by Leoš Janáček, written in 1928, with esprit. Chamber music at a high level: not only composed but also interpreted »in a very special way« (as Haydn said about his »Bird Quartet«, among other things).
