Marisa Monte is celebrated internationally as »the« voice of popular Brazilian music. She has enjoyed superstar status in her home country for decades and combines the world of sambas with contemporary trends. »Raya« is the Spanish name for the border between Spain and Portugal. In »Rayana«, the Portuguese fadista Cuca Roseta and the Spanish flamenco guitarist Daniel Casares focus on the elements that connect the two cultures and create new musical worlds in their Konzerthaus debut. Lura was born in Lisbon to Cape Verdean parents and is now Cape Verde's best-known musician. With the African Women All-Stars, she fuses melancholic melodies and danceable, rhythmic sounds into a single entity. And when the magnificent duos of Ballaké Sissoko and Vincent Segal as well as Émile Parisien and Vincent Peirani meet at the Wiener Konzerthaus, two and two make one for a change.
