Contagious Joy of Playing

The »Camerata sound« has been living up to its name since 1952, starting in Salzburg. It is no coincidence that the orchestra has made chamber-music-like, transparent playing, in which each individual sets impulses and at the same time bears responsibility for the whole, its ideal. »We combine our knowledge and skills, we search for the one divine spark, the magic point where we merge into one sound.« Especially in the era of leader and inspirer Sándor Végh, an unmistakable musical spirit full of »joy of playing, which has an infectious effect« (Neue Zürcher Zeitung) was formed.

Very attached to their homeland, the musicians of the Camerata also like to pack their instruments and go on tour – usually not alone, but in the company of renowned soloists and conductors. In the current season, it is Renaud Capuçon who holds a residency with the orchestra. For many years, the French violinist has been one of the stars of his field. Embedded in works for string orchestra by Mendelssohn Bartholdy and Schubert, he will interpret Mozart's last violin concerto together with the Salzburgers.
