A Programme of the World
Conductor Elim Chan has been praised for her impeccable Rachmaninoff and Shostakovich interpretations. The international press admires her for her unique combination of »drama and tenderness, power and delicacy«. The 35-year-old makes her debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus on the podium of the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra. The repertoire promises a varied evening: in addition to Rachmaninoff's rapturous Symphony No. 3 and a powerful orchestral piece by the English composer Anna Clyne, Bohuslav Martinů's Piano Concerto No. 3 will be heard, which the Czech composer completed in New York in 1948. The Finnish pianist Olli Mustonen, himself an expert Martinů interpreter, will perform this impressive work.
