Exceptional pianists

Sergei Rachmaninoff, born nearly 150 years ago, was one of the »pianists of the century« who made the first decades of the 20th century a golden era of piano music: He possessed not only a magnificent sense of tempo and musical sensibility, but also a stupendous technique. Both are documented for posterity on the famous »Ampico Recordings«. At the same time, he was the originator of fantastic piano music, including his four piano concertos, Préludes and the Etudes-tableaux. Nikolai Lugansky, who has intensively studied Rachmaninoff's personality, his life story and his music, knows how to revive this golden era with his interpretations: a feast for friends of the great romantic piano music.
