In the best of company

»We are in Bach's private apartment. Today the still young composer welcomes special guests. The violinists Johann Joseph Villsmayr and Johann Paul Westhoff, famous throughout Europe, have already tuned their noble violins and begin to play from their collections of sonatas for unaccompanied violin. Bach's friend Telemann has also joined them. He performs one of his popular fantasies. After a delicious meal and a glass of fine red wine, Bach always had a good drop in stock, Johann Sebastian presents a draft of his 'Sei Solo a Violino senza Basso accompagnato'. The guests can't get out of their amazement at the virtuosity of the host.« Gunar Letzbor's violin privatissimum has long been a popular meeting place for onlooking listeners inside of breakneck solos and shows the founder and director of Ars Antiqua Austria completely in his element.
