»Trumpet of Michel-Ange«

French-Lebanese trumpeter Ibrahim Maalouf is currently one of the most popular instrumentalists on the French music scene. He is characterized by his oriental-influenced, emotionally profound jazz blend and skillful fusion of various musical genres. Originally pursuing a career as a classical trumpet player, he advanced from the turn of the millennium onwards to become a pop, jazz and world great through collaborations with artists such as Sting, Salif Keita, Amadou & Mariam, Tryo, Matthieu Chedid and Lhasa de Sela.
With the project »Trumpet of Michel-Ange« Ibrahim Maalouf opens a new chapter in his musical work. Building on the rhythmic foundation and the immovable and irreplaceable stability of the pulse, it is an odyssey through the meanders of East African »Taarab« music, strongly influenced by Arabic and Indian. Here, Ibrahim Maalouf blurs the boundaries between ancient Arabic traditions and avant-garde trance music.
