The summit of chamber music
They are regarded as the pinnacles of the genre: Brahms' violin sonatas are probably the most important after those of Beethoven and are outstanding examples of his rich chamber music output. All three were written within the decade from 1879 to 1889 and can now be experienced in concentrated form on one evening at the beginning of April in the Great Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus. The American star violinist Hilary Hahn meets the Swiss pianist Andreas Haefliger, known for his subtly composed programs - a true summit meeting of chamber music!
