Nothing but masterpieces
The orchestra of the J. S. Bach Foundation has set itself no less a task than performing the complete vocal works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Founded in 2006 by Rudolf Lutz, the ensemble has already performed three times in the »Bach Cantatas« cycle and is particularly popular thanks to Rudolf Lutz's entertaining presentation. This time, cantatas for the second Sunday after Easter will be performed on the 23rd Psalm, »The Lord is my Shepherd«; the cantatas owe their partly pastoral character to this psalm. »The blessed author does not need my recommendation. One has been accustomed to seeing nothing but masterpieces from him«, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach summarised in the preface to a first edition of his father's cantatas. To this day, they continue to impress with their artistic quality and intellectual depth.
