Wake up!

With »St Paul«, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy laid the foundation for his success as a composer. Within a year and a half, the oratorio was performed over fifty times in various European cities. The audience applauded the magnificent choruses and the devotional chorales - Mendelssohn was very familiar with how to compose such works from Bach's Passions. After all, it was he who rescued Bach's sacred music from oblivion with the revival of the St Matthew Passion in Berlin in 1829. The Vorarlberg Symphony Orchestra and the Wiener Singakademie dedicate themselves to this important opus under the direction of Heinz Ferlesch and with an outstanding line-up of soloists, including our Great Talent Patricia Nolz and Florian Boesch.
