Twice the virtuosity

The Vienna Chamber Orchestra presents two solo concertos and two up-and-coming soloists in this concert under the direction of its Principal Guest Conductor Joji Hattori. Sakura Toba makes her first appearance at the Wiener Konzerthaus with Joseph Haydn's technically demanding Concerto for Cello and Orchestra in D major Hob. VIIb/2. The Viennese cellist, who is not even 20 years old and has Japanese roots, has already performed with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. The solo part in Frédéric Chopin's virtuoso Concerto for Piano and Orchestra No. 2 in F minor op. 21 will be performed by Dmytro Choni. The internationally award-winning Ukrainian pianist, who has performed at venues including London's Wigmore Hall, New York's Carnegie Hall and the Lucerne Festival, only made his successful debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus in February of this year.
