Mozart and Schumann

The Philharmonic Five ensemble moves light-footedly between genres and eras: This time, they focus on two piano quartets - the one by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart K 478 and Robert Schumann's Piano Quartet op. 47, which Robert Schumann wrote in the 1840s, when he could already look back on a varied musical life. Mozart's composition dates back to 1785: at this point, he had already composed over 20 string quartets and was now turning to a new genre. The Salzburg master drew his inspiration from the piano concerto and chamber music. The concert evening is rounded off with selected pièces by Piazzolla, Fauré and Heinrich Wilhelm Ernst.
