Festival Resonanzen »Die Planeten«

Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

»Jupiter«

At the end of the 14th century, an illustrious company of ars subtilior composers gazes from the Parnassus of art at an astronomical spectacle in the firmament: planet Jupiter announces - only every twelve years - its sojourn in the »Palace of the Twins«; a crowd of guests arrives in honor of the king. Trebor's description in his elaborate ballad »Quant joyne cuer en may est amoureux« is considered a symbol of the ars subtilior: the worship of a ruler - here presumably John I of Aragon or his brother Martin - according to the ancient model entirely in the service of the (amorous) muses. With homages to the sensual father of the gods Jupiter in its luggage, the ensemble Tasto Solo travels to selected courts of Aragón, Italy and France.
