»Like two big orchestras«
Piano legend Martha Argerich once said of her duet partner, Lilya Zilberstein, in an interview with the Italian daily »La Repubblica«: »Lilya is a perfect pianist, with a completely natural way of playing. Simply world class! Luckily, she wasn't my competitor in the Busoni Competition. That could have made things very difficult for me.« Zilberstein won the Busoni Competition in Bozen in 1987, exactly 30 years after Argerich. So it's hardly surprising if their performances leave the critics in raptures and one of them once said of them that they played »like two big orchestras«.
