Das Konzert ist dem Komponisten Gioachino Rossini gewidmet. Eine Kombination einiger der bedeutendsten Kammermusik-Kompositionen des Maestro werden vorgestellt, um die intimere Seite seiner Kunst zu erkunden. Die überraschend unterschiedlichen Stile und Emotionen von Rossinis Musik, vom hohen Pathos über die reine Lyrik bis zum fast grotesken Humor, veranschaulichen das Ausmaß des Genies des »Schwans von Pesaro«. Die Tenorstimme von Maxim Mironov wird von dem Rossini-Experten Richard Barker auf dem Pianoforte begleitet.
