Pat Metheny is an icon. For around fifty years, the guitarist has been one of the most influential jazz musicians in the world – whether as a solo artist or as the leader of various bands. In the course of his career, the guitarist and composer has won twenty Grammy Awards in twelve different categories. Whether electronic, powerfully intense or deeply thoughtful, composed or completely improvised, Pat Metheny's unmistakable sensibility is always at work. But he is also a promoter, as his »Side-Eye« project gives young jazz artists a chance to join him on stage and learn from each other. »I wanted to create an ongoing platform to host a rotating cast of the newer generations of musicians who have piqued my interest. From my earliest days in Kansas City, I was the beneficiary of so many musicians who engaged me, which gave me the opportunity to develop through their experiences and the particular demands of their music.« Metheny succeeds in this, and so the »Side-Eye« series is the latest chapter in the artist's ever-evolving story.
