Spiritual Wealth
Quatuor Mosaïques is today considered one of the most important string quartets internationally in the field of historical performance practice. This is evidenced by many award-winning recordings, including several Gramophone Awards for the ensemble's Haydn recordings. The focus is never on a museum-like »authenticity«; rather, the living connection to the great European quartet tradition should be palpable. Thus, the legendary Végh Quartet, of which Erich Höbarth was a member for three years, provided essential impulses: The ultimate goal of every interpretation should be to reveal the inner spiritual richness of the music.
