Music and Human Experience
She is one of the leading concert violinists, and has been for some 40 years: Midori acts as a visionary artist, activist and educator, exploring as well as expanding the connection between music and the human experience itself, breaking traditional boundaries. »Concentrating, opening my ears, analyzing the music until nothing stands between me and the music,« is how the Japanese describes her approach. Practicing is like meditation for her, Midori says: »And while I'm working, I try to understand the music, get close to it, calm down and find concentration. And I'm really lucky, because I can do that anywhere. I play an instrument that I can take with me everywhere.« Now she makes a guest appearance with Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto, which Omer Meir Wellber and »his« Volksoper Wien orchestra juxtapose with Shostakovich's Ninth Symphony in the second part, as well as the 2020 work »Marionettes« by Uzbek composer Aziza Sadikova.
