Great classical music
With his irrepressible musical spontaneity and his mood for playing,
Jean-Christophe Spinosi is preaching to the choir - with a program that
includes the complete »holy trinity« of the great classics. A festive
mood reigns from the very beginning, with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's
»Haffner Symphony«, the reworking of a lost serenade written for Vienna
in 1783. Like Mozart's Serenade, a handful of concertos for cello from
the pen of Joseph Haydn, most of which he composed for Joseph Franz
Weigl, the first cellist of the Esterházy court orchestra, have also
been lost. It was a minor sensation when, in the early 1960s, a copy of
the parts of a cello concerto in C major was discovered in the Prague
National Museum in a collection of the Czech castle of Radenín, which
Haydn had listed in his catalog of works entitled »Entwurf-Katalog«. In
no time, the concerto became a standard work. The soloist will be the
internationally acclaimed cellist Anastasia Kobekina, born in 1994 in
Yekaterinburg. Finally, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and Jean-Christoph
Spinosi lend a natural and unadulterated sound to the country life
celebrating Ludwig van Beethoven's famous »Pastorale«.
