A Mensch möcht i bleibn!

»Listening to Shai Maestro is like discovering a new world!« wrote the online medium All About Jazz about the Israeli pianist. Once hailed as a child prodigy, Shai Maestro joined Avishai Cohen's trio at the age of 16. In 2010, his fondness for the classical trio format led him to form his own trio, and five acclaimed albums followed. In 2020, Shai Maestro expanded his formation to a quartet. In the concert hall debut of the Shai Maestro Quartet, he presents his latest album, »Human«, with compatriot Ofri Nehemya on drums, Peruvian double bassist Jorge Roeder and Milwaukee-born trumpeter Philip Dizack. Asked about it, Maestro explains his intention as follows: »If the music is real, then your whole history is contained in it: your values, your customs, your heritage. [...] Respect for your elders, hopes for the future«.
