Debut in the »Klavier im Mozart-Saal« cycle: Alexandre Tharaud

Under the motto »à la française«, Paris-born Alexandre Tharaud invites you to his first solo recital in the Mozart Hall: Born in the French metropolis in 1968, the pianist completed his training at the Conservatoire there and was awarded First Prize for piano at the age of just seventeen. His mentors included Leon Fleisher and Nikita Magaloff. The pianist has made a name for himself internationally with his expertise in French repertoire: in 2001 he recorded Jean-Philippe Rameau's harpsichord suites and his complete recording of Maurice Ravel's piano oeuvre has won several awards. In 2009, Tharaud turned to an exceptional figure of the decades around 1900, Erik Satie. In his second appearance at the Wiener Konzerthaus, he interprets works by this composer and spans the programmatic arc from French Baroque to Impressionism with a selection of Claude Debussy's Préludes.
