Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

Symphonic Schrammel Quintet Vienna

Johann and Josef Schrammel gave their name to the typical Viennese Schrammel music. At the end of the 19th century, the brothers played with a small ensemble at wine taverns and pubs. The Schrammel euphoria that engulfed the city spread far and wide. Johann Strauss, Johannes Brahms and even Arnold Schönberg raved about this Viennese music. It has a permanent place in the Wiener Konzerthaus with the Symphonic Schrammel Quintet Vienna. The ensemble regularly undertakes discovery tours through the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. In the original Schrammel line-up - two violins, a contraguitar, a button accordion and the »picksüße Hölzl«, the G clarinet - the ensemble around contraguitarist and presenter Peter Hirschfeld performs, this time under the motto »Einmal Schrammel, einmal Strauß«. Viennese humour translated into music!
